Karkala, Feb 11: A case is filed at Ajekar police station of the taluk in which the complainants, daily wage labourers working in farms, have accused the owner of the farm of beating them for asking for salaries.

According to the details, complainant Babul (20), a native of Orissa is working for two years as a daily wage labourer in Mathias Farm of Mudarangadi at Sanur in the taluk. His friend Dhanapati works as a daily wage labourer in the farm belonging to Cherian alias Shaneesh at Kanajaru for two months. As Dhanapati conveyed to Babul that his owner Shaneesh is not paying him his salary and also not providing accommodation as promised.

On January 31, when Babul went to inquire about this matter with Shaneesh, he was abused with obscene words. Later Dhanapati left his job and joined Mathias Farms of Mudarangadi, where the complainant and his friend Babul worked.

On February 2, it is alleged by the complainant that he was called by Sachidananda Prabhu alias Sacchu, a friend of farm owner Shaneesh, to come to Ajekar police station. Accordingly, when the complainant and his friend Dhanapati reached Ajekaru police station, Shaneesh spoke to them nicely and said that he will pay a proper salary and accommodation to Dhanapati. Later Shaneesh took both the complainant and his friend in his car to the workers' accommodation near Ajekaru bus stand. Then Shaneesh, Sabu and Sandeep assaulted both the complainant and his friend on the head, back and waist and took their mobile phone and Rs 1,600 in cash and abused them and threatened to kill them and locked them inside the room.

Later, both the complainant and his friend escaped from the room and got themselves treated at Karkala government hospital. As the complainant is illiterate and does not speak the local language, he reported the matter later to the police.

Ajekaru police have registered a case as per the details given by the complainant.
