Mangaluru, Feb 11: A fair of Rajasthan’s arts, crafts and handloom sarees is being held at Hotel Woodlands, here, from February 11. Veteran drama and film actor Navin D Padil inaugurated the fair.
He said, "Such fairs help to preserve Indian arts and culture and the current generation receives the knowledge of Indian rich heritage and rural talents.
"Artistic crafts from outside the state have reached us through the Rajasthan fair which we should encourage. There is a large collection of crafts and handloom sarees from other states including from Rajasthan and people should make use of the opportunity. May the fair be a success with the blessings of people in Mangaluru."
The fair organiser Mahaveer gave details of the fair. He said, "The items in the fair are a symbol of the rich heritage of the nation. As the artistes believe the country is below the poverty line, it is our intention to provide them a suitable platform."
The fair has more than 30 stalls. Thousands of varieties of clothes, sarees and crafts are available in it.
It has block print. Dress material, suit, top, bed sheets, Sanganeri saree; Kolkata: Kantha work, Pashmina, Dhopian, Baluchary, boutique, silk saree; Chhattisgarh: Tussara, Matka and silk sarees; Andhra Pradesh: Mangalgiri, Kalamakari, Mangalgiri saree, dress material, tops, cotton soft dress material; Uttar Pradesh: Banaras, Zamadani, bed sheets and cushion covers, silk sarees, dress material; Madhya Pradesh: Chanderi, Maheswari Silk saree, Bagh print cotton work; Bihar: Tussar silk sarees, dress material and Khadi silk; Gujarat: Kachh Bandhini dress material, cotton work, Patola and Rajkot silk saree and much more products.
