Mangalore, Jun 27: Bearys Turning Point, an integrated condominium lifestyle project, the first-of-its-kind development in city’s prominent medical and IT suburb- Deralakatte was launched by Krishna J Palemar, state minister for port, inland water transport and environment at TMA Convention Centre here on Sunday June 27.

The programme commenced with the invocation of song by the students of Bearys institute.  N M Salim, chief architect, N M Salim & Associates, Calicut briefed the audience on the project.

Addressing the gathering, Syed Mohammed Beary, chairman and managing director, Beary’s Group said, “Our project is not made of brick and steel alone. It is made of passion, emotion and values. We respect nature, people and values. Our project is unique”.

Talking about the purpose of choosing Deralakatte as the location for the major project he said that it is mainly because there are 600 medical students, 700 doctors and 5000 NRI families in the area.  We give prominence to greenery, serene environment and for that purpose we have not cut down any trees in the area, he added.

After unveiling of the model of Bearys Turning Point, Palemar said that in 1993 itself the Bearys had brought a turning point in Mangalore by establishing ‘His Grace’, one of the best building in Hathill. “The six Beary brothers have a wonderful vision which has resulted in the setting up of Beary’s Educational Trust. Their concern towards nature is also very commendable”, he said.

Palemar also suggested that the Bearys can strive towards providing housing facilities to the needy with low cost prices. They can also think of more accurate ways to save environment and recycle water, he added.

Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Katil conveyed his wishes to Beary’s Group on behalf of all the district people. Beary’s have given a unique contribution to the district, added Katil

Mahpara Ali, chief general manager, Corporate Excellence, State Bank of India released the brochure of the project. “Build the building beautifully but it should not be a burden to society, said Ali.

Nitte University chancellor N Vinay Hegde, Infosys Technologies associate vice-president K Gopikrishnan, Yenepoya University chairman Y Mohammed Kunhi, Fr Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, and MLA U T Khader were the guests of honour.
Veena compered the programme. Nasir Moideen, Siddique Beary, land owners Shamshad Begam and Mohammad among others were present on the occasion. The opening offer provided by the owners is 2100 per square feet.

Think again. Do we really want these edifices as white elephants (so called "development") in a crumbling and eroding system and infrastructure that is only responded on case to case basis. There are thousands of flats un-occupied in Mangalore, Held by the owners only to sell. The rentals are cheaper than the investment cost. Think again. Stop drifting to disaster.

Congrats to Beary's at their releasing of the new project, I would like to ask Mr. Krishna Palimar as he too is a builder, how may apartments he has built at low cost and provided to the poor and the needy, I feel its a big no and it applies to only others and not to him as he is a minister, but he is great at one thing "grabbing up others lands".
