Mangaluru, Feb 12: MLC Pratap Simha Naik alleged that the Congress legislators are using the Legislative Council for gaining political mileage.

Addressing a press meet on Friday, February 12 at his office in Mangaluru City Corporation, Naik said, "The Legislative Council has its own history of decades. The legislators in the council should use the council for healthy and serious discussion. The forum is formed for the development of the state."

"Congress cannot tolerate BJP's rule and it is always expecting to be in power. Due to this, not only in the Legislative Assembly, even in the Legislative Council, a proper and healthy discussion is not taking place. Instead, Congress legislators are involved in creating chaos and walkouts. Congress is not giving any importance to the moral value of the house," he said.

"The Anti-Cow Slaughter Bill is passed in the Council. Cow as an animal has its own importance in India. Over 400 NGOs and private organizations have come forward to adopt the aged and male cattle."

"We cannot calculate everything on basis of economic affairs. Cattle are part of our culture and we are emotionally connected to it. Prior to the elections, BJP has mentioned the same in the manifesto," he said.

Former MLC Ganesh Karnik was present.
