Mangalore: Work to Clear Air Crash Remnants Begins

Mangalore, Jun 30: The work of clearing the air crash site of the scattered parts of the ill-fated Air India Express flight from Dubai that crashed at the local airport on May 22, began on Tuesday June 29 afternoon. The tender for this work has been bagged by Fiza Group.

The remnants are being shifted to a spot near the airport terminal in Kenjar. The work is expected to be completed in about two weeks. Labourers and cranes will conduct the clearance work. A S Balakrishna Naidu, engineer of Fiza Group, said that the workers have been provided with hand gloves, masks, helmets and shoes to ensure that they do not fall prey to the infectious diseases during the clearance operation.

Chief of security in Air India, N J Rao, and three other engineers have been supervising the operations.
