Byndoor: Two arrested for illegal transportation of beef

Byndoor, Mar 14: Byndoor police have arrested two people in connection for transportation of illegal beef.
The arrested have been identified as Syed Mohsin Lanka (52), resident of Shaukat Ali Road in Bhatkal and Istiyaq Ahmed Ikkeri (41), resident of Azad Nagar in Bhatkal.
The accused were arrested from the Shiroor check post by Byndoor CI Santhosh Kaykini and personnel.
The accused were allegedly carrying beef in boxes meant for transporting fish. During the police search, 150 kg of beef in three plastic bags was found in the car. The value of the confiscated meat is said to be around Rs 40,000.
It is suspected that the accused must have stolen the cattle and slaughtered it in order to make money.
A case in this connection is registered in the Byndoor police station.
