Mangaluru, Mar 15: "If we come across people who play with the lives of young girls like Preksha, getting addicted to drugs, involving in crime and illegal activities in Kumpala area, residents of Kumpala and various organizations will get together and destroy the houses of such people. We will see that they will not live in Kumpala," said Sathish Kumpala, president of Kumpala Sri Balakrishna Mandira.

Sathish was speaking in a meeting organized after the silent protest and awareness march against ganja addiction and dealing that is taking place in the vicinity of Kumpala. This march was held from Ashraya Colony to Kumapala school grounds.

Sathish further said, "Knowingly or unknowingly, youth of Ashraya Colony are addicted to drugs. They have to immediately come out of the addiction and bring happiness in their homes. Because of the developments that have taken place after the death of Preksha, residents of Ashraya Colony are scared to move around. People are not gathered in the fight against ganja, in a place where 200 to 300 people gather for even a small programme. This clearly shows that people are scared of the ganja addicts. The police department also has the medical report of all those who have pelted stones on the house of Mohan Shetty being positive for ganja consumption.

"There is no need for the public of Kumpala to get scared of the ganja mafia. If we are scared we will spoil the future of our children. We should show that the residents of Ashraya Colony will not get bogged down by any anti-social elements. If children fall into bad social system it is like laying a foundation for a bad society. Who are the people that supply ganja to Kumpala? This needs to be traced by the police.

"After the death of Preksha, an atmosphere of concern is formed in each and every household of Kumpala. If police are not able to trace the source of supply of ganja to Kumpala, it is not possible to instill confidence in people. Regardless of party affiliation or organization, we will not spare anyone who is addicted to drugs. Our fight against those who want to destroy a healthy society will be continuous. Today's awareness march is the last warning for drug addicts. If untoward incidents continue, we will make them go away from Kumpala itself."

Devanand Shetty, Mohan Shetty, Kishore, Vatsala, Devaki, Shivananda Tailor, Ashwith, Gangadhar Shetty, Chethan, Ashok, Prakash Kumpala, Shaktiprasad, Ramesh, Ravindra Kumpala, Venkatesh Kumpala and Anil Bigambila were present.
