Younis Hopes for Comeback at Nottingham Test

Karachi, Jul 23 (IANS): Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan has resumed training after returning from England this week in a bid to reclaim his place in the national cricket team.

Sources close to Younis told IANS that the experienced batsman is concentrating on his form and fitness and hopes to make his international comeback in the Test series against England beginning July 29 in Nottingham.

However, it has been learnt that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still indecisive on whether to recall Younis because of the Mardan-born player's decision to confront the board over an indefinite ban imposed on him in the aftermath of a disastrous tour of Australia last February.

Younis had featured in the last leg of that tour and bitterly disputed a PCB decision to ban him along with several other leading Pakistan cricketers. While most of the other players have been cleared, the board has decided to keep Younis out of the fold.

According to sources, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt is still unwilling to clear Younis.
