Udupi, Mar 30: The false propaganda against district administration on social media over facilities provided to candidates of army recruitment is wrong, said deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh at a press conference.

The candidates had come at 2 am to attend for early interviews and were sleeping on the road. Their pictures have been circulated on social media. The candidates were provided free food and snacks across six places with the help of donors, he said.

Over 2,000 candidates from Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru have taken part in the rally on the first day. Most of them have passed the physical test and have been selected for the medical test. 38,818 candidates submitted applications online. 23,000 among them took part in the recruitment and 22,532 have participated in the physical test. 16,286 have remained absent for physical tests. These tests concluded on March 29, said recruitment department head Colonel Subhash.

Dr Roshan Kumar from the sports and youth empowerment department stated that out of those who appeared for physical examination, 10% have produced fake marks card and fake sports certificates.
