Bengaluru: Woman smothers husband to death with foot

Benglauru, Apr 13: In an incident which happened within the limits of J J Nagar police station here on Sunday April 11 afternoon, a woman killed her husband by pressing his neck hard with her foot.

The man who list his life was Mohan (41), resident of Obalesh Colony. His wife Padma, has been taken into custody by the police.

The couple, both of them civic workers, had married in 2014. They got three sons. Mohan was heavily addicted to liquor, and after lot of efforts, Padma head succeeded in persuading him to join a rehabilitation camp where he got rid of drinking habit. But after staying away from liquor for six months, Mohan had recently begun to consume it again. This was the root cause for the fights between the two.

On Sunday afternoon, Mohan sought money from his wife to buy liquor. The couple fought on this issue. As the fight escalated, Padma pushed her husband hard. Mohan fell to the ground. Padma pressed his neck hard with her foot, as a result of which he became very ill. With the help of neighbours, Padma took him to a few hospitals but his life could not be saved. As no one knew that it was a murder, the funeral was carried out in the evening.

On Monday morning, some relatives, who grew suspicious about Padma's role in the death, filed police complaint. During the police questioning, Padma confessed to have killed her husband. It is learnt that when the incident happened, the children of the couple were in a nearby house.
