CM Yediyurappa calls upon people to follow Ambedkar’s ideals

Bengaluru, Apr 14: The Father of the Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar has asked the people, especially the Dalits and other oppressed classes, to fight for education, organisation and struggle which are noble ideals to be followed by all citizens, said Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday.

Speaking after garlanding the statue of Babasaheb Dr Ambedkar in front of Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru to mark the 130th birth anniversary and later offering floral tributes to the portrait, Yediyurappa said Dr Ambedkar devoted his entire life for the protection and emancipation of the Dalit masses.

Dr Ambedkar was the beacon light for the oppressed classes and fought for their betterment, the Chief Minister said pointing out that the entire country was paying its homage to the architect of the Indian Constitution.

The Chief Minister distributed the new set of uniforms and protection kits to 18,000 pourakarmikas of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Social Welfare Minister B Sriramulu, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta, Administrator Rakesh Singh and other senior officials were present at the function.
