Kundapur, Apr 17: Taking a dig at BJP-led state government Kundapur Block Congress President Kannaki Hariprasad Shetty said, "BJP led-state government allowed political programmes and campaigns prior to the elections, but now is imposing a Covid-19 strict restriction only on religious rituals and celebrations. We severely condemn this move by the government.

"Prior to the by-election campaign, the BJP government implemented restriction as per their wish, but now after the election campaign is over, they are trying to implement very strict restrictions. We condemn this move by the government.

"Several religious rituals scheduled in April and May from last year are pending due to the Covid-19 lockdown.

"The order issued by the government on April 16 allowed limited people to take part in the programme. But imposing strict restriction only on religious rituals is not fair. If such a decision was taken by the Congress government, BJP would have protested stating that Congress is hurting religious sentiments.

"The government is playing on the sentiments of the people by allowing them to hold programmes in limited numbers and banning religious rituals. The government should review this decision as it is not an appropriate decision.

"People are in panic, as the government is issuing different guidelines in a short span of time. People are confused with this move by the government without any plan or idea.

"There is a lack of coordination among the health minister, chief minister and other ministers, over the report of the Technical Advisory Committee, corona guidelines, medical test and lockdown.

"The government should act responsibly during a time of disaster. There is support from us for the pro-people decision by the government to contain the spread of the pandemic.

CM Yeddirappa has done the right thing by restricting on religious rituals. One has to learn in United Arab Emirates, how this government has restricted religious gathering. They care for the society. These political leaders do not have the foresight, how to build a strong, healthy society. Only interested in temporary appeasement and if the situation goes out of hand, then they wash their hands and blame others.
