Congress leader Mithun Rai urges K'taka govt to postpone VTU exams

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Apr 18: Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai on Sunday, April 18 took to Twitter urging the government of Karnataka, the chief minister, the deputy chief minister, and the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) to postpone VTU exams that are scheduled to be held on April 19 amid a spike in cases of Covid-19.

Mithun Rai posted a video on Twitter stating, "JEE, CBSE has postponed exams due to rise in Covid-19 cases. In Karnataka, cases are increasing day by day. A lot of students that are studying in various colleges are residing in hostels. They have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus."

"The government cannot expect those students who have tested positive to come and write the exams. Any student who fails to appear exam has been marked as failed. This is injustice. I urge the Government of Karnataka to initiate measures to postpone the VTU exams. A lot of students in the hostels are under quarantine and undergoing treatment. Hence, the decision to conduct the VTU exam is not right. I hope, this message is loud and clear and the Government of Karnataka and the CM will take immediate steps to postpone the VTU exams," he added.
