Bengaluru, Apr 19: Revenue minister R Ashok said that the situation in Karnataka with regards to the second wave of coronavirus is not as bad as Delhi or Maharashtra.

Ashok spoke to the scribes in the city and said, "There is no pressure to impose lockdown. Lockdown is not the only solution. The co-operation of the public is required to prevent Covid from spreading. We will take stringent actions in cities. The situation is not out of control. Our situation is not as bad as Maharashtra and Delhi. We still have time to take action to control the spread of the second wave of coronavirus.

"There are seven medical oxygen manufacturing companies. They are capable of producing 711 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen. At present we need 270 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen. So we do not have a shortage of liquid oxygen. We are supplying the same to hospitals that have the capacity to store these cylinders. Those who do not have the capacity to store the cylinders get supplies two to three times a day."

"There is no scarcity of Remedisivir injection. From April 11 to 17 47,726 vials were supplied. At present we have a stock of 20,000. There is no scarcity in any of the government hospitals. There are issues in private hospitals. We will get it rectified.

"The same Covid situation will be there for the next two months. The decision will be taken on the action plan for the next two months, after holding a discussion with all parties on Monday. Our state should not be like the states ruled by Congress. The actions we take in our state should be modelled on other states. We will take such decisions in the meeting."
