Court Rejects PIL on Graft Charges against Kalmadi

New Delhi, Aug 11 (IANS): The Delhi High court Wednesday dismissed a petition alleging corruption charges against Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Chairman Suresh Kalmadi and members of Hockey India (HI).

The public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by lawyer Ajay Agarwal, who demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the matter.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra dismissed the PIL after the central government said that it had already de-recognised HI.

The sports ministry had on Aug 6 withdrawn provisional recognition of HI for not holding the election as per government guidelines.
