Bantwal: Students Told to Preserve Traditions while Embracing Change

Bantwal, Aug 22:
“Students are expected to follow Indian traditions and culture that teach values like respect for elders,” said Dr Pundikai Ganapayya Bhat, head of department of history, Davala College, Moodbidri.
 
Dr Bhat was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the ‘Save Ancient Traditions Week’ held at Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre, B C Road, on Sunday August 22.  The event was organized by the Karnataka History Academy.
 
“Everyone in society should take interest in preserving artifacts for posterity,” he said, and also expressed his happiness over the organizing of ‘Save Ancient Traditions Week’ every year.

Rotary Club president Ashwini Kumar Rai presided over the programme. He urged the students to give due consideration to traditions and culture while embracing change.
 
Prof Tukaram Poojary, director, Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre, explained the significance of organizing the event.
 
Pushpadanta, head of Manjusha museum, Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala, was the chief guest on the occasion.
 
Philatelists and artifacts collectors Jayaprakash Rao, Nityanand Pai, Prabhakar Kamat, Rayee Raj Kumar, Samad Bava, Kishore Baglody and Vidhya Baglody shared their experiences with the students.
 
Umesh Achar was felicitated for providing carpentry artifacts to Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre on the occasion. 
 
Convener Paa Anantaraja Indra welcomed the gathering. Prof Asha Suvarna compered the programme.
