Bantwal, Jun 17: Checkpoints were opened on four roads of Vittal on June 17 following the decision taken at the emergency meeting of Vittal town panchayat. 80 people that arrived at the market were subjected to swab tests. However, the new rule of the corona task force meeting was not as successful as expected.

An order to impose weekend curfew was discussed during the task force meeting. Vittal community health centre officials, town panchayat staff and Vittal police have jointly installed check points for inspection at the entry to the market at Nadakacheri, Meginapete, Bobbekeri and KSRTC bus stand for people who visit the markets every day.

Swab tests were conducted on 80 people at the KSRTC bus stand. Awareness was created among other people by checking their body temperatures at Nadakacheri, Meginapete and Bobbekeri. Town panchayat officials have said that swab tests will be conducted at all the spots from Friday, June 18.

The new rule of the town panchayat has caused widespread anguish among the people.
