Karwar, Jun 18: Madeva Puttu Naik (69), resident of Madhava Nagar Ankola, breathed his last within an hour of getting his first dose of vaccination. The doctors have determined the cause of death as a heart attack. Angry relatives of the deceased engaged in arguments with the doctors about the cause of Naik's death.

Madeva Naik had carried his wife, Lalita Naik, in a bicycle to the Satyagraha Smaraka Bhavana in Ankola for vaccination. The health department had organized vaccinating camp there. Both got the first dose of the vaccination. After waiting for 30 minutes, the couple travelled by bicycle to the taluk hospital to collect tablets. Madeva Naik collapsed and died inside the hospital premises there.

The relatives were agitated as they felt that vaccination had something to do with this death. As they engaged in arguments with the doctors, the police intervened and pacified both sides.
