Bantwal, Sep 6: The local unit of BJP staged a protest in front of the city centre at B C Road here on Saturday September 4, urging the Indian President Pratibha Patil to approve the enactment of anti-cow slaughter and save Kashmir.
In his keynote address, Karnataka Yakshagana Academy president Kumble Sundar Rao said that the cow has sacred place in Indian culture. Meanwhile, a few political parties oppose the bill on anti-cow slaughter with the idea of vote bank politics, alleging that it will deprive the minority communities of their food, alleged Sundar Rao.
‘If the Act is in force in other states of country, why the delay in enforcing it in Karnataka,’ questioned Sundar Rao. Meanwhile, he called on everyone to be committed to save the sacred cow, urged Sundar Rao.
Addressing the gatehring, MLA A Rukmayya Poojary aleged that there lies a conspiracy for the Governor Bhardwaj has not to sign the bill on anti-cow slaughter.
Zilla panchayat members Vijay Prabhu and M Tungappa Bangera, town councillor Dinesh Bhandary, Bantwal Urban Development Authority (BUDA) president A Govind Prabhu, Bantwal block BJP president Chennappa R Kotian, chief secretary Ramdas Bantwal and others were present.
The delegation of taluk BJP accompanied with a cow, presented their memorandum to deputy tahsildar to forward the same to Indian President Pratibha Patil.
