Mangalore: Sevanjali Trust Confers Award to Lt Col Damodar Bhat

Mangalore, Sep 6: The city-based Sevanjali Charitable Trust, a social service institution, had organized its annual Satyanarayana Pooja and award presentation ceremony for its ‘Personality of the Year Award’ in the city, on the occasion of its ninth anniversary.

The award and citation were handed over to retired Lt Col Damodar Bhat, who had a distinguished career in defence services and protecting the borders of the country.

The trust has been active in social service activities and extends financial assistance, and reimburses  medical expenses etc., for the financially backward families. Annually, it has been conferring the awards by choosing a person on the basis of services rendered by him to the society at large.

Speaking after receiving the award, Lt Col Damodar Bhat, urged the youth to come forward to serve the country by joining the defence services. “Protecting our country is our primary duty and responsibility. The parents should encourage their children to join the defence establishments and serve the country by protecting its borders by joining the forces at least for the minimum stipulated years,” he advised.

Trustees of Lord Venkatramana temple, C L Shenoy, Nityanand Nayak and Madhav Kamath, apart from Sevanjali Trust president, D Vedavyas Kamath, were present. Bindumadhav Shenoy presented the programme.
