Mangalore: Dr M V Shetty College Celebrates World Physiotherapy Day

Mangalore, Sep 9: Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy in collaboration with Indian Association of Physiotherapy, city branch celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on Wednesday September 8.









A symposium was conducted on ‘Neuro development treatment approach for children with cerebral palsy and role of physiotherapist in Intensive Care Unit and cardiac rehabilitation’.

Dr Susan Varghese, principal, College of Physiotherapy delivered the welcome address. Professor Mithra Nidarsh Hegde, HOD of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences inaugurated the programme. She spoke about importance of hard work and education and urged the students to work towards achieving their dream.

The Keynote address was given by professor Hima Urmila Shetty, trustee, Dr M V Shetty trust colleges. She spoke about the need and scope of physiotherapist and how much more could be done by the Physios in urban and rural setups. She inspired the students to think big, dream big and realize those dreams.

Dr M Ramgopal Shetty founder, Dr M V Shetty Memorial Trust Colleges presided. He emphasized how hard work and will power contributes for the change in the scenario and makes miracles in work.

Dr Narasimman Swaminathan MPT (Cardio Pulmo), and Dr Ramesh Kumar MPT, NDT, (PhD) were the resource persons.

Dr U T Ifthikar Ali, convenor, IAP Mangalore Branch, president SFTFI, member of Board of Studies was present on the occasion. More than 300 students, postgraduates and physiotherapy delegates from in and around the city were present. Vaishali, lecturer proposed the vote of thanks.
