Bantwal: Thieves Steal Valuables Worth Four Lac Rupees

Bantwal, Sep 13: Unidentified thieves entered two houses in Kambalabettu near Vittal in the taluk, when the families had been away to celebrate Ramzan festival, and took away gold ornaments and cash totally worth about four lac rupees.

Badanaje Badriya Khader and members of his family had gone to the house of Khader’s daughter in Mangalore on Friday. When the family members returned on Sunday September 12, they saw that thieves had entered their home by bending the rods of the backside window of the house, and taken away ten sovereigns of gold ornaments apart from Rs 6,000 in cash. The thieves also have broken open the almirahs in the house to search for more valuables.

The house of Abdul Latif, located opposite Khader’s house, also was found to have been burgled by the thieves. They entered Latif’s house by breaking open the front door, and opening the doors of an almirah inside with the help of an axe. 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments, and Rs 25,000 in cash, were reportedly stolen from that house. Latif is employed abroad, and his family members were on a visit to a relative’s house nearby, on account of Ramzan festival.

Additional district superintendent of police (SP), Prabhakar, Puttur assistant SP, Amit Singh, squad of sniffer dogs and finger print experts rushed to the spot and took up investigation. A case has been registered in Vittal police station in this connection.
