Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jul 28: The revenue department, acting on a complaint that a Dalit family had occupied government land near Darbethadka school, evicted the family from there. Raghunath, who happens to be the breadwinner for the family, tried to kill himself on this occasion by consuming some poisonous substance.

The health condition of Raghunath turned precarious after he consumed some poisonous material. He was admitted into the government hospital in the city. The house was demolished when Raghunath was away from home. He was out working as a coolie when his house was razed to the ground, and on his return in the evening, he went away and consumed poisonous substance on a nearby hillock.

Raghunath's sisters and locals went in search of him and got to know that he was on a hillock. They went there and admitted him immediately into the government hospital in the city. The doctors said that he is out of danger as he had consumed only a portion of the substance.
