Mangaluru: Family believes misleading advertisement, loses Rs 2.23 lac

Mangaluru, Jul 28: A family got cheated and lost Rs 2.23 lac believing a fake advertisement on a property website.

An advertisement of a house was uploaded on Magicbricks website. A family from Mangaluru got in touch with the owner of the house who posed himself as serving in the Indian military. The family and the owner of the house continuously were in touch where he sent photos in military attire and in an academy which convinced the family.

When asked to visit the house physically. The man denied and urged to give some time and also sought money from the family. He claimed to have property in Mangaluru and wanted to sell it. He also claimed that he rarely visits Mangaluru and will be in parts of north India. The family gave the man Rs 2.23 lac in total.

The police commissioner has alerted the public not fall prey to such calls and fake advertisements.

No arrests has been made so far in the case.
