Ayodhya Verdict - Another Party to Move Apex Court

Lucknow, Sep 27 (IANS) After petitioner Ramesh Chandra Tripathi, who had sought deferment of the Ayodhya verdict, another key party in the matter Nirmohi Akhara plans to move the Supreme Court for postponement of the judgment for three months to facilitate an out-of-court amicable settlement, a lawyer said Monday.

This was disclosed by Nirmohi Akhara counsel Ranjit Lal Verma here just before leaving for Delhi to move an application in the apex court.

"I am heading for Delhi to move an application before the apex court for postponing the verdict for three months," Lal told IANS.

He is also seeking the apex court's intervention for granting extension to a judge of the Allahabad High Court, Dharam Veer Sharma, who is scheduled to retire at the end of the this month.

Justice Sharma is one of the three judges on the high court bench which is due to deliver its judgment on the Ayodhya dispute. The high court had reserved its verdict July 27 and announced it would pronounce it Sep 24.

The apex court later imposed an interim stay on the pronouncement of the judgment by the high court till Tuesday. The apex court is now scheduled to take a final call on Tripathi's plea Tuesday.

Retired bureaucrat Tripathi approached the apex court for postponing the high court verdict till at least the end of the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games. He also sought the court's direction to the parties to explore the possibility of an out-of-court amicable settlement.

He challenged the high court order rejecting his plea for deferring the pronouncement of the verdict so that there could be some mediation for an amicable settlement of the dispute.

Tripathi's petition was turned down by the three-judge special bench of the high court two weeks ago. While two judges S.U. Khan and Sudhir Agrawal rejected the application, the third judge, Dharam Veer Sharma, allowed the plea, following which Tripathi chose to move the apex court.

The high court also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000 on Tripathi.

Nirmohi Akhara is a key party in the Babri Masjid-Ramjanmabhoomi title suit.

    Praful, Jeppu,

The need of the hour is to avoid blood shed and after math consequences of the Ayodhya Vedict, we need to understand that no religion propagate violence and Indian constitution came into effect in late 1950’s and the court will decide based on the constitution and available proofs and court will not decide for something that was existed (if any) 1500 years ago.

Our duty is to avoid any loss of lives in the name of religion, GOD resides in believer’s heart and as Indians we need to show our secular credentials are intact and both parties should get involved in out of the court settlement. My suggestion is that we don’t need Masjid’s or Temple at the expenses of even a single human life so let them build a hospital, school or a orphanage that will please Allah and Ram and even billions of peace loving Indians.

Hey Praful, Jeppu... I guess you dont read news papers or follow news, as Archealogical department have already done the survey/ Excavation and the High court of Allahabad has taken a decision based on the evidence provided by Archeological department and other facts. Which excavation you are talking about????? Your comments clearly indicates the hatred you have against your fellow neighbours.

The court must decide on the matter and put all speculations to a stop. The issue must be solved permanently. Its better muslims volutarily gift this place to our hindu brothers and build a masjid some where else. Thats most appropriate and need of the hour. We dont need another 100 years police/military guarding this place and prayers have been denied. Lets build a masjid somewehre else and live inpeace with our neighbours and countrymen.

Every citizen have to request what the person feels. The Supreme Court will decide what is the best for the citizens and how to keep the country safe. The court must ask the central and all state governments and law and order departments to give all details how they will handle the situation. If the court is NOT happy and if court feel that there may be riots then Court must ask the president to impose Emergency and military rule for 2 to 5 years. So peace, law & order and development can be made.

Should not the archeological society start excavation to find out is there was a hindu temple at the spot before a mohamedan masjid ?. If there was a hindu temple and the masjid was built over an existing one, than the mohamedan structure has no right to the site and should be torn down with utmost haste.

It is in the best interest of the nation that the verdict is postponed until the commonwealth games and all the foreign participants leave the country. We should not overstretch the security apparatus of the country just because some people want the verdict to be delivered early. A month or two shall not make much difference to the situation.
