Bengaluru/Udupi/Mangaluru, Aug 29: Due to the drop in air pressure created in Bay of Bengal along the coasts of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh, low pressure has developed in Karnataka and Kerala which lie on the coast of Arabian Sea. There is possibility that the state will receive widespread downpour.
As many as 12 districts including those on coastal and interior parts of the state are on high alert.

Coastal districts received heavy downpour on Saturday, August 28 and on Sunday August 29 morning. There is a possibility that coastal and interior parts of the state will receive heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning for next couple of days. The meteorological department has said that northern interior parts of Karnataka are also likely to receive rains.
Orange alert has been declared on August 29 in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Uttara Kannada and south interior parts of Karnataka. Yellow alert has been announced for August 30 in the same districts.
Most parts of coastal Karnataka received good rains on Saturday, August 28. Rain started pouring in the district of Udupi right from the morning. Udupi, Manipal, Karkala, Siddapura, Kundapur, Brahmavar, Kaup, Udyavar, Katapady and Padubidri also received copious amounts of rains.
Managluru received intermittent rains. Good rain is reported from many areas Puttur, Uppinangady, Kadaba, Beltangady, Madyanthar, Dharmasthala, Naravi, Punjalakatte, Bantwal, Kalladka, Sullia, Subramanya, Guttigaru, Vittal, Kanyana, Suratkal, Moodbidri and Ullal.
In the district of Kasargod heavy downpour that started on the night of Friday is still continuing.
Many electricity supply poles got uprooted as a huge tree fell on them at the ninth milestone near Aardi of Siddapur. Electricity supply is disrupted in the adjoining areas.
