Mangaluru, Aug 29: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district Dr Rajendra K V has issued guidelines ahead of the resumption of physical classes for second PU students in the district.

After several months of closure due to second wave of coronavirus, physical classes for second PU students are now set to begin from September 1.

The DC said that physical classes for first PU, degree and post-graduation may begin after September 15 after obtaining approval from deputy director of PU and joint director of colleges respectively.

The order states that the principal of the college should take complete responsibility of implementing the standard operating procedure (SOP) while the classes are in progress.

According to the SOP, separate corona care center should be opened in colleges to keep students arriving from Kerala in quarantine for seven days. Students who have completed their quarantine period can attend classes after producing a negative RTPCR report. Arrangements should be made for students who are in quarantine to attend online classes.

All teaching and non-teaching staff should provide negative RT-PCR test certificates. Separate classes should be held for local students and students residing in hostels.

Students arriving from Kerala can attend classes by providing a negative RT-PCR test report once every seven days. Teaching and non-teaching staff arriving from Kerala will have to adhere to the same rule even if they have received two doses of vaccine.

A team including DDPU, taluk health officers and principals of respective colleges has been formed to ensure adherence to SOP.

As per the directive already given, a separate corona care center has to be opened and measures should be taken to provide quarantine and medical treatment for one week for infected students. After a week, one more RT-PCR test needs to be carried out and the students should be allowed to attend physical classes only if the report is negative.

The kids should all be vaccinated before classes. All should be forced in. Otherwise the virus will spread rapidly

Under 25 youth and kids are never in any danger from the virus and the authorities are not taking into account available data world wide regarding the same. As such no failed vaccines or fake RTPCR tests which were with Emergency Use Permission are withdrawn by US FDA need to be made mandatory as the order itself is illegal and no authorities should be acting like marketing agents of them. Time to end interference into people's health and lives as we are not living in either China or North Korea.

DC allows pu students who are not vaccinated to attend classes but doesn't want the vaccinated degree students to attend offline classes. Someone give a proper justification for this please.

Mixed reactions honestly, classes need to be started but bringing rtpcr report every 7 days will not work.....make the arrangements for free of cost, and why ug,pg and 1st pu are not opening..... pretty sure that you're just opening 2pu college for a survey with students acting like samples. They're trying to find wheather the age group of 17-18 will get covid or not just like they found out on ug students in last month...... This is just not the right time
