Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 19: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday September 19 reported 97 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 84 new cases and two deaths.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 17,51,286 samples have been tested so far, out of which 16,38,096 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,13,190, out of which 1,200 are currently active.
As many as 160 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,10,359.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,631, out of which five are non-Covid deaths.
The positivity rate in the district stands at 0.96%.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,27,870 as fine in 87,352 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 10,91,112 samples have been tested so far.
As many as 84 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 75,724, out of which 1,249 are currently active.
A total of 232 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 74,011.
Out of 84 new patients, 72 are in home isolation while 12 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 84, as many as 45 are symptomatic and 39 asymptomatic.
While Udupi taluk reported 47 of the 84 cases, Kundapur recorded 18, and Karkala 19.
Coronavirus has claimed 464 lives in the district so far, including two on Sunday. The two people who died were both men from Karkala.
So far, 8,71,805 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 3,63,818 have received the second dose.
A total of 52 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far. No cases of black fungus are active.
