Karnataka /India is almost self suffiicent in Milk. Why should we increase prodn and create glut in the market like Sugar prodn. Already Govt is paying Rs5 subsidy per litre that means daily 4.35 Crores for 87 Lakh litres and almost 1,460 crores of tax payer's money to Milk producers. They are demanding that subsidy to double Rs10 per litre. Who will pay for additional 13 lakhs litres if prodn really increases. It is not just question of subsidy ( because of subsidy we get cheap milk) but need to increase when therre is no Demand as such now

do you even understand dairy business . Govt pays 30 rs per litre to the farmer and a subsidy of 5rs per litre ( paid once in 3 to 6 months ). but this subsidy is only paid if the fat % is upto the level ..the cost of feed is 1150rs per 50Kg ,a cow giving 10 litre needs a feed of 6kgs per day and grass of 25kgs to keep yielding milk and cost of a HF breed cow is above 1 lakh and there is no market for old cows and male calfs ..so farmers are forced to starve male calfs and let them die .. govt buys at 30rs and sells at 50 ..in that 5 rs go to politicians who are in KMF board and vaccines and medications also cost money . there is a shortage of veternary doctors ..even a visit will cost 2500rs minimum ..

Please do not increase the milk production and also do not increase deceases. Some section of the society may be happy by getting more patients. There are many other substitutes for the milk consumption.

Increase the production you cruel sons, squeeze out from her as much as you can. The day she doesn't bear a calf, outright stop feeding her and let die a slow death. I was at a vet hospital recently, where farmers came complaining about smelly, loose stools in their cattle. The medical representative says the reason is because the feed (Pundi) that is fed, comes Urea added to it already which cause gasses. This chemical is passed on to us humans too. This is what service you are getting out of your Maatha. Carry on, and along the way increase the number of cancer patients too.
