Mangaluru: ‘Should not cross limits in exercises’, advises Dr Manjunath

Mangaluru, Nov 2: AJ Hospital cardiologist Dr Manjunath spoke to media during an interaction regarding physical fitness on Tuesday November 2.

He also said, “It is really sad to see youngsters losing their lives due to heart attack. Recently Puneeth Rajkumar and Siddharth Shukla died due to heart attack. During the Covid period, many lost their lives. People are already in fear due to the recent heart attack deaths and have a lot of questions in their minds. Many people asking about getting tested regularly after 40 years to avoid getting heart disease shows fear in people. There is nothing like that. We should emphasise on how to prevent heart-related diseases.

“In some cases, there is family history of first degree relative having heart diseases. Hence, there is a need of non-incisive treatment to check the body or symptoms. In non-incisive treatment, we get a lot of information such as symptoms or need of further treatment. If required, then one can go for incisive treatment.

“We should not go for CT scans unnecessarily. Only if required, where it is really necessary, please opt for it. Many people also question about exercise. Tthere is nothing wrong in performing exercises, but do it in the right way. We should not cross certain limits as our body is built in a way to perform exercise only up to a limit. We should look how to maintain weight, muscle and avoid taking supplements. Consuming food or performing exercise, keep everything in moderation. Perform moderate exercises rather than hi-intensity work-outs.

“Gym is not compulsory. Brisk walking will be well and good and also cycling and swimming which is an isotonic exercise. Avoid hi-intensity workouts as we cannot suddenly manipulate our body. Take all kinds of precautions such as in food habits and maintaining health. Not only heart, but every organ of the body needs to be taken care of,” said Dr Manjunath.

Mohit Mally of Atom Fitness Club said, “Moderating is the key word which we should maintain while performing exercises. There is a lot of internet influence as they show food diet which is not good. Set long term goals than short ones.”

Vikas Mally from Atom Fitness Club was also present.

Too much is too bad. There should be moderation in every thing. Don’t take the medical advice as sacrosanct. Use your own judgement. In our childhood, we learnt that milk was a complete food, but now they say it is harmful for health. They said coconut oil is good for health. Then a time came when all hurled complaints on coconut oil and people stopped using it. Now again another version is that it is good for health. They said cholesterol is bad for health, causing heart attack. Now the American FDA has revised its own advice and declared that cholesterol is good for health. Incidentally Dr. Manjunath is a very good heart specialist and he treated my wife well for some heart related problem, when we were in Mangalore. We are indeed, grateful to him.

Recently there have been a sudden spate of deaths from strokes and heart attacks mainly in middle aged men which has never happened before, and the reason is obvious, but no medical professional wants to cite that as one of the reasons.

Good suggestions by doctor. Every person should train under the guidance of his trainer and youngsters unless they lead healthy lifestyle shouldn't exert more than their body can tolerate. Just like yoga under a guru's guidance is a boon and if not a bane. One more important point doctors should consider is Adverse Vaccine Reactions or side effects which are causing clots in fit and healthy youngsters world wide and are causing strokes and heart attacks too as a factor. First aid or CPR until they reach medical help can save lot of lives too.

Looks like all Fitness Clubs and Gym owners too are in a State of Shock. They too have been rudely awakened. Too much is too Bad in all cases. Over exercising, stretching your body to the limits also has it's own perils. It is also talked in hush hush tones regarding the tragic event that happened a few days back. The philosophical stand is the best to take in such cases. Your life is a book, but then you don't have control over your 1st and last page ! ಕಾಲಾಯ ತಸ್ಮೈ ನಮಃ.. Nothing in the world can increase or decrease the NUMBER of BREATHS too you can take in your life !It is pre -destined.Excess life one can guarentee...So live every moment and enjoy. .
