Kundapur: Anganwadis closed due to Corona reopen after 20 months

Kundapur, Nov 8: Anganwadis that were closed for twenty months because of Coronavirus have reopened today Nov 8 after a long leave and children have returned to them.

As schools have reopened to full course from today, Anganwadis have made all the preparations to welcome them in their premises. Schools are decorated suitably to attract the children.

Banana poles were erected; balloons in various colours and decorations were hung in Anganwadi centres. Children are being welcomed keeping dolls and toys in the schools. Anganwadi staff at Kundapur and Byndoor Anganwadis welcomed children, handing over sweets and roses to them.

Kundapur women and child development department project officer Shwetha and Sujaya visited Angnwadi centres at Katkere and Neramballi Brahmanagudi. They lit Arati for children, distributed sweets, handed over flowers and welcomed lovingly to the Anganwadis.

Koni gram panchayat president Vasanti, gram panchayat member Ganapathi Shet, Stree Shakti member Mubina, Bala Vikas committee member Srikanth, Asha worker Nagarathna, Katkere Anganwadi centre assistant Babi and others were present. Katkere Anganwadi centre’s activist Bhagya S welcomed and compered the programme. Anganwadi activists and staff were present during the visit to Neramballi centre.

CDPO Shweta speaking to the news reporters said that children were not coming to school for the last one and a half years. “Conducive atmosphere was created to welcome the children in a unique way. Sufficient precautions are taken by the department of women and child development before reopening the Anganwadi centres. The centres are directed to be kept open only from 10 am to 12 pm in the initial stages. Nutritional food and food preparations will be supplied to their residences till further orders. Anganwadi activists and assistants are directed to take Corona vaccinations in two stages,” she said.
