Mangaluru, Nov 8: Two young men from the city have joined hands to realise the dream of transforming our country into Digital India by handing e-slates to the small Anganwadi children.

The two young men will be providing e-slates to the children on November 14.

An NGO from Bengaluru has come forward to provide e-slates to a thousand children after finding the post in a social website. A toy dealer from the city had come forward to sell the e-slates, which are priced around Rs 300, at Rs 200 apiece. The NGO plans to provide e-slates to 1,000 children.

Cyber security expert Dr Anantha Prabhu Gurpur and Asgar Razack have decided to hand over slates to the Anganwadi children. The first batch of 38 e-slates will be handed over to the children of Putta Anganwadi at Pandeshwar here.

These two have been pooling money required for this project on their own. They had done such things earlier too but this time they have undertaken quite a big project. Their post on social websites has been getting good response and funds for the project are coming in. Dr Ananth Prabhu said that an NGO from Bengaluru which went through the social website post, came forward to provide e-slates to a thousand children.

He said that already a number of Angnwadis have been identified for the purpose and more will be identified in the coming days. He said that the dream is to create awareness about digital learning at a young age.
