District administration aims to enroll 27,000 new voters: Udupi DC

Udupi, Nov 9: "The district administration aims to register 27,000 new voters by 2022 according to the projected Census Population by the Election Commission of India (ECI). There are a total 10,21,188 voters in Udupi," said deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao.

Speaking in a press meet held at DC office Manipal here on Tuesday November 9, he said, "The ECI released a draft voters' list and schedule for its revision on Monday November 8. It has given time to raise objections and for corrections from November 8 to December 8, 2021.”

A special registration campaign programme was held on November 7 and it will continue on November 14, 21, and 28.

Disposal of claims and objections will be completed by December 27, 2021 and final voters' list will be displayed on January 13, 2022.

For new voters' enrollment, citizens who have attained the age of 18 years or will attain the age on January 1, 2022, can get themselves enrolled with the BLO or online.

Booth Level Officers (BLO) have been appointed by the ECI for all the taluks.

Applicants can use www.nvsp.in and voter help line app to enroll or for any corrections.

“The district administration will give priority for new voters. According to the projected Census Population, there are 27,000 eligible new voters but just 4,139 have registered. We will be conducting a special campaign for raising that number. We will encourage new voters to enroll themselves online," said the DC.
