Kaup: Worried over unmarried son, woman commits suicide

Kaup, Nov 11: A woman jumped into a nearby well and ended her life on Wednesday November 10 morning. The incident happened at Udyavar Melpete near here. Reportedly, the woman concerned, identified as Vanita Hegde (61) from Udyavar Melpete, was overcome by worries about her not being able to perform the marriage of her son.

Vanita was living in her ancestral house with family. She was reportedly bothered by worries about her son Radhakrishna Hegde's marriage and some other issues. It is suspected that because of these worries she would have chosen to end her life. Her daughter Sulakshna Prabhu, in her complaint made to Kaup police station, said that no other plausible reasons could be thought of about her mother taking this extreme step.

Kaup police have begun the probe.
