Bengaluru, Nov 13: The high court here has expressed the opinion that either written or oral interference in the transfer or deployment of government officials is tantamount to politicisation of the offices concerned. In its judgement over the transfer of an officer of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL), it observed that such interferences are disastrous for good governance and efficiency.

KPTCL assistant engineer (electrical), D Naveen, had filed the application questioning him not being allowed to take charge of the position to which he was transferred. The bench chaired by Justice M Nagaprasanna observed that the officer could not take charge of the post to which he was transferred because of the political interference by a legislator. It also held that this violates the transfer rules of the government. The denial to allow the transferred official to work at the Varthur unit just because the then MLA, Aravind Limbavali who wanted the current assistant engineer, S Mahadev, there was not justified, the court said.

The court observed that it was wrong on the part of Mahadev to have continued to work in that office. It instructed the electric supply company to issue an order within a week about the applicant duly making it valid from January this year.
