Bengaluru, Nov 15: For the first time, the very format of the second PU midterm exam is being modified. The lecturers are opposed to the proposal made by the PU board. All India Democratic Students Organisation Karnataka unit has called to observe November 16 as a protest day.

On the model of the first PU final exam, midterm question papers are being sent directly by the central office, duly following strict rules. Subject-wise timetable for exams from November 29 to December 10 have been issued. But there are objections for holding exams within a short time after the colleges were fully reopened. It is said that because of shortage of time, the students will face problems.

In the past, second PU midterm exams were held at the college level.

Last year, because of coronavirus fears, the result was announced for the second PU students based on SSLC examination. It is said that if coronavirus again surfaces during this year, the result will again be based on the marks scored in the midterm examination.

President of Karnataka State Principals Association, Srikante Gowda, condemned the decision taken all of a sudden to hold the midterm exam in the new format without consulting PU college lecturers and principals. He said that the minister will be contacted and the issue will be discussed.

PU board joint director, Shyalaja C L, said that based on the suggestions from officials and experts, it has been decided to hold second PU midterm exams on the lines of the first PU final exams. She said that the process of preparing the question papers has already begun.
