Bantwal: Cases booked against 20-30 people for obstructing police during accident

Bantwal, Nov 15: Cases are booked at Vitla police station against 20 to 30 people for obstructing police from performing their duties after a collision between two cars at Mani, Halira on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway. Two people are arrested in this connection.

The arrested are Soorikumeri resident Mohammed Hanif (43) and Halira resident Jagadish (25). The accident had occurred between Swift car approaching from Bengaluru and Inova car approaching from Uppinangady on November 12. There were heated arguments between two groups which had gathered at the spot of the accident and they were about to assault each other. Some people had obstructed the police personnel and spoiled peace when the police were speaking and pacifying the drivers. The police have registered a case on their own, arrested the suspects and remanded them to judicial custody.

The police have also kept an eye on people spreading lies in the social media in this connection and are likely to register cases against them.
