Udupi, Nov 16: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) Udupi and Yuvashakti Karnataka members began indefinite day and night protest on Tuesday, November 16 in the premises of district hospital Ajjarkad here demanding payment of salaries for staffs in dialysis unit and to provide chemical to dialysis treatment.

Ansar Ahmed, district president, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike said that, "There are 23 dialysis centre units in 23 Government hospitals which are in bad condition. The government is responsible for such state of the dialysis centres. The government must choose contractors carefully during the tender process. The maintenance and responsibility was given to BRS company and now it is facing financial crisis. Now the government has to take up the responsibility in providing facilities to the dialysis centres and payment for its staff. It is learnt that, out of 11 dialysis machine, only four are functioning."

Ansar allegedly said, "There may be conspiracy of closing dialysis centres by not providing facilities. This is just a beginning, started with few people today, but do not take it easy. We will be holding protest in a larger way. Let the Karnataka open its blind folded eyes and have concern for the poor patients. We will not stop this protest until justice is delivered to the staffs of the dialysis centres."

Prasanna Kumar Shetty, Pramod Uchila, state president, Yuvashakti Karnataka, Yogish Kutpady, district president, Yuva Karnataka and others were present.
