Udupi: Laksha Deepotsava held in grandeur at Sri Krishna Math

Udupi, Nov 16: Thousands of devotees took part in the four-day Teppotsava and Laksha Deepotsava festivities which began at Sri Krishna Math here on the occasion of Uthana Dwadashi on Tuesday November 16.

In the day, Paryaya Admaru Math Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji offered puja to Tulsi plant. In the evening, the senior and junior heads of different Maths joined together at the car street here, where they placed the earthen diyas on the decorated pedestals and set the Laksha Deepotsava, the festival of lights, moving. In the evening festival, Swamijis of six Maths came together to offer puja to Lord Krishna and Arghya (libation) in honour of the Lord.

Thousands of devotees who had gathered to witness the Laksha Deepotsava felt blessed by lighting the diyas.

The Utsava Murty of the Lord was kept in the decorated raft and taken around the pond, duly accompanied by musical instruments. The devotees, who were chanting the name of the Lord and hailing the Almighty through slogans, pulled the chariot around the car street.

Crackers were burst during the chariot procession. The Laksha Deepotsava will be held for four days till November 19. Thousands of devotees who came from far off places took part with the feeling of devotion and accomplishment at the festival.

Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Paryaya Admaru Math, Paryaya Sri Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji, Sri Vidyasagara Theertha Swamiji of Krishnapur Math, Sri Vidyadheesha Theertha Swamiji of Palimaru Math, Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Sri Vidyavallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math and junior Swamiji of Palimaru Math, Sri Vidyarajeshwara Theertha Swamiji, participated in the festival.
