Udupi: Visit houses, vaccinate eligible people – DC Kurma Rao M

Udupi, Nov 17: “Vaccines are the only way to control Coronavirus. Therefore, conduct house to house visits and vaccinate the eligible people,” said deputy commissioner (DC) and vaccination task force coordination committee president Kurma Rao M. He was speaking after presiding over the meeting of the vaccination task force at his office on.

“There are 2,95,375 houses in the district. Health department staff, Asha activists and Anganwadi activists should visit every house, obtain the details of people who are not vaccinated, create awareness on the need of vaccination and vaccinate them,” he said.

“The vaccination programme will be held throughout the district from November 16 to November 30. People and community leaders should cooperate during house visits and the vaccination campaign,” he said.

“The details and mobile number of the people should be obtained during visits to houses in the format prescribed by the government. The survey should be covered twice in at least seven gram panchayats in the taluk per day. The tahsildar, taluk panchayat executive officer and taluk level medical officers should oversee the work,” he said.

“It is better to obtain the details of people above 18 years of age from the voter’s list. The cooperation of local groups and associations, NGOs and Yuvaka Mandalis should be obtained for the campaign,” he said.

Zilla panchayat chief executive officer Dr Naveen Bhat Y said that it is seen that pregnant women, new mothers and people suffering from illnesses refuse vaccination due to lethargy. “They should be persuaded during house visits to get vaccinated,” he said.

Families of children coming to school should be encouraged to get vaccinated by means of letters sent through children. The schools in which family members of children are completely vaccinated will be presented a prize,” he said.

Additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, district health and family welfare officer Dr Nagabhooshan Udupa, Vaccination campaign nodal officer Dr Rama, various medical officers in the taluk and others were present.
