Hassan, Nov 19: In the form of Dr Suraj Revanna, another member of H D Deve Gowda's clan is entering the state politics. His name was announced by state president of the JD(S), H D Kumaraswamy, on Thursday November 18.
Addressing a press meet, Kumaraswamy said that Suraj emerged as a consensus candidate in the presence of party MLAs and that he would be filing nomination papers on Friday.
MLA H D Revanna, said that there had been pressure from the people, particularly the women, to make Bhavani Revanna the party candidate. But taking into consideration the fact that the son can be an able representative of his mother, Suraj's name has been finalised, he added. Bhavani Revanna said that when her name was proposed from Belur constituency in 2008, she had proposed the name of Lingesh, and a decision to allot the ticket to Lingayat candidate was taken then.
