Udupi, Nov 19: “Rs 15 crore will be required to acquire land and develop the road from Hombadi to Haladi and another Rs 15 crore are required to acquire land and widen the road from Barkur market to Halladi,” said Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty. He was speaking in a press conference held here on Friday, November 19.

He urged for the release of Rs 30 crore by the chief minister to develop the roads.

“I extend complete cooperation to acquire the land and widen roads in Kundapur. I have worked pro people, bound by the decision of the panchayat president. Let the roads be widened after paying compensation to those who lost land. I have been questioning about it in Vidhan Sabha since 2013. But the government is not paying attention,” he alleged.

“The union government has retrieved three farm acts for the benefit of farmers after sufficient scrutiny. I am not as big a person to speak about the decision,” he said.

“Speaking for or against the laws and acts of the government due to lack of clarity is normal. The union government has obtained information on a national level and taken a good decision,” he said.

“The voters among us have not contested in elections. They will take decisions on the basis of development. I had participated in the Jana Swaraj conference at the town hall. I was outside. I go to the dais only if necessary,” he said.

“The candidates for the Vidhan Parishad elections are not announced by any parties. How can we predict the winner or loser without knowing the candidate?,” he asked.
