Bantwal, Nov 20: Former union minister and veteran Congress leader, B Janardhana Poojary, has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on behalf of the farmers of the entire country for withdrawing three disputed farm laws.

"The farmers who fought against these acts for a year have finally tasted success. I congratulate the sons of the soil who carried out a never before battle against the act," he said in a press statement.

Udupi district Congress committee president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, and district Congress spokesperson, Bhaskar Rao Kidiyoor, have said that the repeal of the anti-farmer farm laws is a victory for democracy and the Congress welcomes the move. "We hope that this is not a political stunt meant to fool the farmers that their tears are being wiped. Over 700 farmers have lost their lives fighting against the law. The government should pay compensation to the families," they urged.
