Karkala, Nov 21: A person identified as Manjunath (43), resident of Miyyar Shivasagar, was found dead inside a thicket near Miyar rivulet on Saturday November 20.

Manjuath used to function as an instrumentalist who performed with his team in auspicious ceremonies. He had shifted his residence to Nandalike a year ago after constructing a new house there. Reportedly, he used to tell the people close to him that he had borrowings raised to build the house to repay.

Manjunath had left home on November 18 telling his mother that he would be visiting the house at Miyyar and then go to Bajagoly. However, he did not come back. He did not return to his house at Nandalike. A search was launched, and his body was found hanging from a branch of a tree inside a thicket near Myyar rivulet.

The police suspect that this could be a case of suicide caused by worry about mounting borrowings. A case has been registered in Karkala town police station.
