Davanagere, Nov 22: National president of All India Veerashaiva Mahasbha and Davanagere south legislator, Dr Shamanuru Shivashankarappa, has begun earnest efforts to create an awareness among the Veerashaiva Lingayat community who are considering to change their faiths having been lured by different offers, and to bring them back. The members who have already converted into other faiths should be brought back, duly observing that Veerashaiva Lingayat have been changing their religion because of different lures offered or other kinds of attractions.

Shamanuru said that the heritage of Veerashaiva Lingayat religion is very appealing and is based on gentle and potent principles that have lofty ideals at its base. "Our members should have affection and pride about this lofty religion and the society. Unity of our people, solidarity and eminence are the three things which the people of the society should feel proud of. We should all own responsibility to preserve the greatness of our religion and carry it forward," he stated in a press statement.

He has asked the district and taluk level officials of the Mahasabha to be in constant touch with Maths and other prayer centres to ensure that religions conversions do not happen. He said that besides blocking any conversions, one should constantly try to keep in touch with the concerned and be vigilant about religious conversions.
