Udupi: Muddu Theerthahalli selected for Late Joseph, Mary Pinto Niddodi memorial literary award

Udupi, Nov 22: Vithasha Riya Rodrigues (Muddu Theerthahalli) has been selected for the Late Jospeh, Mary Pinto Niddodi memorial literary award. The award is conferred in association with Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh to encourage the youth writers in Konkani language.

Vithisha Riya Rodrigues has been actively involved in the literary activities for the past seven years. She has been writing articles, poems, with her pen name Muddu Theerthahalli. She has been a active writer in Konkani and Kannada languages and her writings have been published in many renowned publications.

Muddu Theerthahalli has already has 6 books published to her credits. Hoo Gonchalu (Poem and Story - 2006), Kaanana Kalarava (Poems - 2008), Estu bannada irulu (Poems - 2010), Ondu Chandrana Tundu (Satire essay - 2011), Kaada Hadiya Hoogalu (Novel -2013), Kshamisalagudilla Kshamisi (Poems - 2018). Kaada Hadiya Hoogalu, novel has been adopted for the cinema.

She has been awarded with Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, Kavyananda Award, Bendre Grantha Prize, Kannada Sahitya Parishad Aralu Award, Kariyanna Charitable Award, Sharada R Rao Charitable Award, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavarama Bommayi Foundation's , Gangamma Somappa Bommai Aralu Moggu award, Kannada Shri Award, Vidya Sagar Bala Puraskar, Advisors Award, Kerala - Kasargod Samskriti Award, She won first place in the state level children's poetry competition in 2012 organized by Kannada Prabha daily.

She was the first president of state level Makkala Sahitya Sammelana in 2010.

Late Jospeh, Mary Pinto Niddodi memorial literary award will be conferred on December 5 in a ceremony to be held in Milagres College Kallianpur during the writers meet organized in association with Catholic Sabha, Amcho Sandesh fortnightly, said Dr Gerald Pinto, convener.
