Mangaluru, Nov 22: The children of the Guardian Angel Church Angelore celebrated Children’s Day with a jubilant creative variety entertainment program on November 21 in a unique way.
An open-air stage with a beautiful LED background was all set to display the children’s talents. Fr Michael Santhumayor, principal of Milagres College, and Fr William Menezes, parish priest declared the programme open.along with Fr Lawrence Cutinha, assistant parish priest, Noel Pinto, vice president and Lolina D’Souza, secretary of parish pastoral council. The tiny tots with the colourful balloons escorted the chief guest Fr Michael Santhumayor to the dais. The programme was inaugurated by releasing the balloons. The children to invoke God’s blessings sang a prayer song.
Fr Michael Santhumayor in his address congratulated the parish priest, assistant parish priest and entire parishioners for organising such an event to encourage the talents of the children. He emphasised that whatever we invest in children will never go waste. Children are like a blank page, the children need to be prepared to look at the entire blank page, which could be filled with lots of good things. He told the children and parents not to focus more about the single black dot, which represents negative things. Specially addressing the parents, he encouraged them to prepare their children with good values, spiritual focus, and prayerful life so that they will be able to accept anything in life. Further, he called upon the parents to give their children exposure to lots of opportunities so that they would focus on a career that is beneficial to the needs of the society. Instilling love for God, developing self-confidence, appreciating all good things and allowing them to make decisions will definitely make them good future citizens. The final key message of an ATM, which he emphasised, was, aim high, think big and be moderate. Fr William Menezes, parish priest congratulated all those who trained the children who have worked hard to bring out the best talents. He specially thanked Maxim Dsouza for his hard work and Vishranth D’Souza and family for sponsoring the beautiful stage. He said if children were encouraged, they would be confident enough to bring out their potential and talents. He also strongly emphasised that “Let’s sacrifice our today so that our children can have a better tomorrow.”
Main sponsors and the trainers of choreography and singing, who were instrumental for the success of the programme, were honoured with a floral bouquet. The sponsors of refreshments and telecasting on divine word TV (live) were also felicitated. Maxim D’Souza and his team did a marvellous job in organizing and coordinating the whole programme.
More than a hundred and fifty students displayed their talents either acting in comedy skits or singing songs, Bollywood dance of various forms and Konkani dance. A few children got an opportunity to compere the programme. The program was fabulous with varieties of creativity even though the cloudy skies permitted until the end with few drizzles and outpouring at the end. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks.
