Mysuru, Nov 23: Two college students lost their lives due to drowning when trying to click their selfies. This incident happened at Kenchanakere pond in Hoskote, Hunsur taluk, on Monday November 22.

Muhammed Abdul Sharif (21), son of former member of Hunsur municipal council, Mohidulla Sharif from Shabbir Nagar, and Tanveer Baig (21), son of Riaz Baig, a scrap merchant from Narasimhaswamy extension, lost their lives when trying an adventure. Their friend, Zubair, who was also with the duo, escaped unharmed.

All the three youngsters were second year students of Jnanadhara first grade college, Hunsur. They were studying in second year BCom degree course. On Monday, the college had a holiday and therefore, the trio went to Kenchanakere, Hoskote, for clicking selfies and post the same on social websites. When they were standing on the edge of the pond and taking photos, they lost their balance and fell into the pond. They did not know how to swim and therefore drowned.

Zubair, who survived, informed the families. The bodies were retrieved with the help of the fire brigade personnel from Hunsur and K R Nagar.
