    Dear Mr.Vivek R. D'Souza, Dubai/Kallianpur,

Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes all my life I have loved Konkany Music and Singing and over the last twenty five years have on my own trained a lot of children in Doha to sing in Konkany and also take part in traditional dances and tablous and Mandos, besides making two albums of age-old traditional Konkany folk songs and I have derived more than enough satisfaction from those activities., especially since these albums have reached the households of so many traditional Mangalorean families all over the world where even albums of many other well-known singers have failed to reach.

.Fr.Walter Albuqurque even gave me the unique honour of singing in an album all the songs sung during Pope John Paul’s historic visit to Mangalore and even the welcome song sung in his honour in front of the mammoth gathering of over half a million..

But that was in the past and now I have bid adios both to Mangalore and also Konkany Music as I want to concentrate only my Professional life, nor do I want to be subservient to any musclemen who like to browbeat and think with money-power they can control our personal lives as well.

Organisers of the GVOM are doing a commendable job so far even though I cannot predict about the future, we can only pray for their success and I believe the Special Blessings of St.Annes the Patron Saint of Kelarai Church could go a long way in achieving success for all the future GVOM programmes.

    Dear Vivek R. D’Souza,
Very Good Suggestion. For sure you must be member of any one of those hundreds of association in Dubai. Why don’t you ask them to do so. Why GOVM organizers only have to think about this? Why can’t others who spend so much of money in organizing their programs also think about this? There are so many other associations in each country they can come and support your cause. Try to convenience your association to do so. Good luck to you.

GOVM reality music show is okay.
But is there any need to spend
so much of money on hosting such
musical shows? Why cant the organisers bring out some good
music albums by the prize winning
    singers?Why cant they recognise
and honour the great original composers and singers like Apolinaris D'Souza,Dony Lobo and others? Is it worth spending so money on GVOM musical shows?Konkani
Natak Sabha,Mandd Sobhann and some other organisers host musical reality shows in Mangalore without spending so much of money on travel, food, accomodation etc.We the
Mangaloreans must admire those great Goan Singers and Musicians and take example from them how to respect the senior singers and composers. The huge amount of money
spent on such reality shows can be
utilised for a Music School in Mangalore or in Udupi.

Dear Marina, you are right in many issues and also wrong at the same time. In general, from any point of view, an University can not be compared to a small Konkani community. If GVOM are really serious, they can look into this matter to help them out assisting the GVOM winners to train along with our Konkani singers like Melwin, Oliver etc.,. Why not, some might agree to accomplish as a professional Konkani singers and GVOM can claim its added glory then too. GVOM should do this if not obligation, to show their love, moral support and concern for the winners after spending such a huge amounts, energy, valuable time etc.,

However, worst is that during the contest or crowning ceremony none of the past GVOM singers were invited to the podium to sing a song nor at least crown the runner up. What is your opinion about this? Does this not shows GVOM’s clear attitude about past GOVM winners. Without further arguments, we have to agree that in every ‘dosa’ there are holes. It is a fact. We must over come our weakness and must not cover up with wrong justifications. Everyone has to learn from the past mistakes and desiring not to repeat in GVOM III.

Congratulations to Preema & Rupert for your achievements in GVOM2010. As a resident of Qatar we are very proud of your achievements.
Best wishes to MCA for GVOM 2012 we are looking ahead for the show. Also our wishes to all the associations across the Gulf countries who are associated with this event. When somebody does good things, certain category of people always there to criticize or to comment. As an individual they are not ready to contribute neither ready to be a part of it. I hope nothing will stop the Organizers of GVOM to organize more and more events like this in the Gulf. I wish all the very best for the future endeavors.

Congratulations to Preema & Rupert for the Honours. You both really deserve it.
Congratulations to MCA for GVOM III. Awaiting for 2012 as for sure you will give your best as you have always done.
Good luck to all the gulf organizers of GVOM. In the Middle East our Konkani singers were hardly getting any chance to get recognized but because of this venture, many singers have been recognized and we see them taking part in various cultural gatherings. GVOM has given recognition to our singers in the Gulf countries whether they are winners or qualify for Finals or Semifinals or even for the audition. It is a great encouragement for upcoming singers when they hardly get any chance to perform on an open stage in front of big audience. Really a great thinking from the people who started this and the organizations who support GVOM.
The university that gives a degree doesn’t give the Job also for the students who pass out through them. But gives a certificate of recognition for them to find a Job anywhere in the world. GVOM is also the same. It gives them a platform while otherwise they or their singing talent wouldn’t even have been known to other people. I hope in the coming years more and more talented singers will use this stage and benefit out of it.

Konkani Lover and Marian. Precisely this was my point when I wrote my comment before Dubai GVoM. Please see http://www.daijiworld.com/news/gvm2/exclusive/exclusive_view.asp?cid=41&ctit=Gulf Voice %3A It%92s Time for Mother of all Battles in Dubai

The composers / musicians and singers who do so much of hard work and spend money to bring out new original music CD’s (not remixes please) should be recognized and supported as part of GVoM. Because, I am sure whoever ventures into Konkani music does not expect to make good any of the amount he has spent. A cash prize of considerable amount may be announced to someone who brings out the most creative Mangy Konkani album in the 2 years before the next GVoM.

This is just one suggestion. There may be several better ideas in the minds of true Mangy Konkani music lovers. Please share them.

Konkani Lover, your name was necessory. After all we and ourselves. Why to be withheld ?

Founder Fathers of GVOM are pretty gulf residents and I never heard their extraordinary zeal for Konkani prior to that IF SO they could have taken some serious interest to groom further those past GVOM winners to serve their ultimum purpose of GVOM for Konkani Mai Bas. In general, in the Gulf, after achieving their bank bulk targets, next target is for name, fame and kind of fun games as we read about late Ramppana stories. I raised similar question in the same media under the title ‘Where are they now ? (past GVOM winners). No doubt, stringent efforts were placed by the organizers for a day’s event, to identify the best voice of Gulf Mangalore, how sad… but only for a day !. Further now, if some serious thoughts are given, I am sure Founder fathers names will be written in the annuls of Konkani books and I will be grateful to them for their novel GVOM idea while bearing rich fruits for Konkani Culture and Amchi Mai Bas. Finally, a simple hypothesis, after a Winner from Kuwait, from UAE, can I foresee some blushes here for next GVOM to be from Qatar !, A day’s purpose should not go in vain… Was it the sole purpose of GVOM ?

While we are organizing mega events as such in Konkani music, what is the fate of the further growth of original konkani music and the present generation composers, The great Wilfy s and jeromes along with others have given birth to mordern konkani music and nutured it so far, but what is the future from hereI request the brians behind these huge events to also contribute to the qualitative growth and development of konkani music rather than wasting huge amount of money and energy on such events. Am not saying this out of my prejudice this is the past experience, what has been the contribution of the winners, runners up and top singers of last two seasons of GVOM to growth of konkani music??? yes they are talented and worked hard to win the title but what after the competition can they or will they contribute to the growth of music culture?? am sure no, they will return to their daily work of earning their bread. So lets support those upcoming young composers/singers who have performed consistently and can contribute for the growth of konkani music as far as my knowledge goes they dont get any support when compared to these events or its contestants so lets contribute towards to the qualitative growth of our music.(I am a singer by hobby and have performed with present day composers they don t get any major support they deserve lets support them before they desert the konkani music scene)
regards to all konkani music lovers
