Udupi: Lady eyes bumper prize, loses five lac rupees

Udupi, Dec 6: A lady who trusted a message received from an unknown sender fell to the trap laid by the concerned and lost five lac rupees. A case in this regard has been registered in the cyber crime, economic offences and narcotics police station here.

The victim, identified as Anusha, a resident of Kundapur Vandse Kaikana, had received an email in august this year, offering an employment at Bengaluru airport. Anusha contacted the mobile phone number given therein. She was asked to remit Rs 65,000 to Google Pay accounts of strangers towards employment clearance and other expenses. She later got a message about having won a bumper prize amount of Rs 25 lac. Thereafter, as per instructions received from strangers from time to time, she remitted a total amount of Rs 5,02,540 to the bank accounts of the callers.

In her complaint, Anusha claimed that she was taken for a ride by some strangers who made her believe that she had got employment and won a bumper prize.
